Building on our experience of supplying specialist components and displays, we can take your optoelectronic project or custom display assembly from an idea or concept, through specification, design, prototyping and pre-production into full production.

Light is the theme that links all of our customers – whether in the medical, military, commercial, industrial or security sectors. Light was Pacer’s raison d’etre when the company was founded back in 1989, and we’ve expanded from our early photonics-based portfolio to offer displays, sensors, LEDs and a wide range of other light-based components and systems. We’re the optoelectronics partner of choice for OEMs seeking specialist knowledge in this field.

We specialise in light – ways of detecting light, emitting light and switching light, the properties of different laser sources and systems, the use of light in display technology, the attenuation and absorption of light in scientific instrumentation, new applications of light sensing…the list goes on. Committed To Quality

Quality control is the cornerstone of the services Pacer provides.

Our manufacturing facilities, including our partner sites, meet the quality assurance standards demanded by our OEM customers in the military, medical and security sectors. All facilities are ISO9001 approved, with relevant facilities holding QS9000, ISO13485, TS16949, ISO14001 and FDA accreditation. Our rigorous auditing procedures ensure that these exacting standards are maintained. We are approved by leading defence, medical and industrial OEMs, and have been working with a number of them for several years.

Pacer USA LLC is assessed and registered by NQA, as a Specialist Supplier of Optoelectronic Display and Laser Solutions, against the provisions of AS9120B and BS EN 9001:2015 and in accordance with the requirements of EN 9104-001:2013.

We follow state-of-the-art models of Project Management and have APM-qualified project managers who utilise Project Management Plans (PMPs) including support of extended lifecycles which handover to production. We use Daptiv cloud-based Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software to manage projects, which incorporates dashboards, Gantt charts, task lists and document management.

Overseas Capability

In addition to Pacer’s UK electronic manufacturing facilities in Weymouth, we have developed a world-wide network of strategic manufacturing partners. For high volume manufacture, our customers can therefore benefit from the cost savings achievable via global production. We can offer high quality, competitive manufacturing solutions with ISO 9001-2000, ISO/TS16949 and ISO 13485 approval, cGMP approval, FDA and CFDA registered facilities.

Via our partner network we have access to wafer fabrication, chip-on-board fabrication, LED die selection, unique epoxy coating techniques, photo ICs, IC design and manufacture, hybrid assembly and multifunctional assemblies. We have both UK and Far East materials and component procurement channels, and have the flexibility to take on as much or as little of your project as you need us to.

Custom Components

By working with Pacer, you will benefit from our knowledge of our own extensive product portfolio – but there will be occasions when an off-the-shelf solution is not available. We build on our broad component knowledge to solve your design challenges, offering full customisation of optoelectronic components and displays when necessary to meet individual requirements.

Display Assemblies

Pacer offers a design and engineering service to provide customisation of displays for end applications. We can help you to integrate your standard or custom display with a touchscreen, pcb, connectors and housings.

Within our Weymouth facility, we are able to undertake customisation of display panels, assembly of touchscreens in a class 7 cleanroom environment, assembly of display modules into final housings, production engineering and test & certification.

Our display technologies include TFT LCD, EL including the new transparent EL, OLED, and mono character and graphic modules. We have extensive experience with customers in all sectors, and can advise on display requirements for harsh environments and for military, aviation and marine applications.

Design For Manufacture

Design for Manufacture (DFM) is the practice of designing products such that they are easier and more economical to manufacture.

From the start of the design phase, manufacturability is considered and any potential problems are addressed during the design phase – which is much more cost effective than waiting until the unit is closer to production.

Design for manufacturing can minimise problems further down the line and hugely reduce production engineering costs.

At our dedicated Design and Build Centre, you have access to the extensive optoelectronics and display technology experience and expertise of our design team. Our broad component knowledge and well established relationships with leading suppliers are the results of Pacer’s history as the leading specialist optoelectronic and display distributor in the UK. We build on this know-how to solve electronic design challenges using the emission, sensing, detection or processing of light.

We have in-house electronic, optical and mechanical design expertise, and can advise on technical as well as commercial aspects of a new project. Our team works with a carefully chosen network of strategic partners from across the globe, all of whom offer competitive and high quality solutions to complement our in house resources when required. We are strategically placed to be able to offer full electronic and mechanical design and verification, rapid local prototyping and UK manufacture if required. We have both UK and Far East materials and component procurement channels, and we can access cost effective medium and high volume manufacture via our network partners. We have the flexibility to take on as much or as little of your project as you need us to.
