Gas Sensing

Excelitas thermopile detectors and pyrodetectors for gas sensing and monitoring are equipped with the required specialised narrow-band optical filters. Excelitas provides a range of suited filter windows for those gases which show an absorption band in the IR spectral range.

Our Products

Excelitas offers a number of thermopile detectors and pyrodetectors for gas sensing and monitoring.

These include thermopile detectors equipped with specialised bandpass filters for gas detection e.g. TPiD 1T 0515-Gx, where Gx is one of the Excelitas gas filters. The devices employ chips with large absorber size and have very high signal output for optical gas detection.

The PYSxxxx detector range has been designed for gas sensing applications. They are available with a range of narrow band pass filters for various gas types, in combination with a reference filter. Features include larger element sizes to offer more signal for non-focused optical systems, additional EMI protection and thermal compensation for compensation of thermal effects caused by temperature changes of the housing.

TPD 1T 0122

General-purpose detectors in 4.7 mm diameter TO-46 type housings, featuring a specially-designed element configuration, each one with different size of absorbing area. The window is available as standard infrared or optional with narrow band pass filter for gas sensing applications. With the narrowband filters a square window is provided. TPD 1T 0122 provides the smallest absorbing area, TPD 1T 0623 is a larger design offering strong signals. All types are equipped as standard with an internal thermistor as temperature reference for thermopile temperature compensation.

Excelitas TPD 1T 0122 Thermopile Detectors in TO-46 housing – a miniature sensor solution featuring a sensitive chip and small optical window. Sensitivity S100: 56 µV/K. Field of View: 120 degrees. The window is optically coated in the IR band 5-14µm and is available in two different formats.

Excelitas TPD 1T 0123 Thermopile Detectors in TO-46 housing – a miniature sensor solution featuring a sensitive chip and small optical window. Sensitivity S100: 58 µV/K. Field of View: 110 degrees. The window is optically coated in the IR band 5-14µm and is available in two different formats.

TPD 2T 0625

The Excelitas TPD 2T 0625 Dual-Output Thermopile Detector features two sensitive detection chips located behind individual optical filter windows contained in a robust TO-39 housing. This design generates two independent outputs, each in a different spectral range. This specially designed detector offers dual channel performance in a TO-39 housing with 2 individual optical windows. Typically one window is fitted with a reference filter G20, while the other is fitted with a narrowband pass filter selected for a specific gas. The sensor is also equipped as standard with an internal thermistor as temperature reference for thermopile temperature compensation.

PYS3198

Excelitas Single-Element Pyrodetectors combine one sensing element with the optical window, making them ideally suited for gas measurement and monitoring applications. The PYS 3198 TC GX (replacement to LHi 807) is a single channel, parallel format temperature-compensated elements detector based on lithium-tantalate (Li-Ta).

PYS3428

As a Dual-Channel, Single-Element Pyrodetector, the PYS 3428 (replacement to LHi 814) includes two single-elements which are each thermally compensated. Each output is optically linked to an individual optical window within the TO-5 Metal Housing. For each window a variety of narrow-band optical filters are available to meet a range of specific sensing requirements.
